Uttara express train with 300 passengers narrowly  escapes in Rajshahi

Uttara Chilahati-Rajshahi express train with around 300 passengers had a narrow escape after its driver managed to stop after seeing a danger (red) signal at Arani in the district this morning.

Sadrul Alam, Arani Station Master, said the local gateman Layeb Uddin detected a nine-inch broken part of the railway track on Boral Bridge just before arrival of the train around 9.40 am prompting him to raise a red flag at the danger point with cooperation of the local people.

Seeing the red signal the loco master of the running training managed to halt his train around 500-meter away from the point.

“We have completed the repairing works of the broken track around 11.40 am and the scheduled trains from both the sides started plying from 12 noon,” said Asim Kumar Talukder, General Manager of West Zone Railway,
