Govt works to reach land services to peoples’ doorsteps

The government has been working relentlessly to reach the land services to the doorsteps of the public in general through promoting automation in this field.

All the land management and services are expected to be brought under automation until 2024.

The views were expressed by high officials and experts at a divisional workshop titled “Land Management and Services Automation” held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office in Rajshahi Sunday.

Dhaka Land Reform Board and Commissioner Office of Rajshahi division jointly hosted the workshop discussing and devising ways and means on how to infuse dynamism into the land service delivery activities for welfare of the general masses.

Land Secretary Mustafizur Rahman addressed the workshop as chief guest, while former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office and Chief Coordinator of SDG Domain Expert Abul Kalam Azad spoke as the guest of honour with Commissioner of Rajshahi division GSM Zafarullah in the chair.

Land Reform Board Chairman Soleman Khan gave an illustration on land automation and digitalization in his multimedia presentation.

Director of Land Management Automation Project Mozaffar Ahmed and Additional Divisional Commissioner Moinul Islam also spoke, while Rajshahi DC Abdul Jalil welcomed the participants.

Land Secretary Mustafizur Rahman told the meeting that the people are getting land records easily as a result of record room automation. The Land Ministry got an award from the United Nation as recognition for the automation of land services.

Hundred percent land mutation online is in process at present, he said, adding that a project has been adopted for digital land survey through collecting three dimensional satellite images.

There will be no need for manual land survey upon successful implementation of digital land survey. Khatian and the map will be prepared automatically in terms of ownership transfer. The venture will save the public from the long-lasting harassment.

In the workshop, various issues, including online holding entry, e-mutation, digital record room, automation and development tax management were discussed elaborately.

The participants also identified the existing problems in the land management and service delivery activities and way forward of those collectively.
