Leading e-commerce platform Daraz Bangladesh recently tagged along with popular women’s community “Nibedita” to organize “Daraz presents Nibedita Equalizer 2022” – an exclusive event that highlighted the need to ensure equal rights for everyone beyond gender identity.
The event was held on March 11 in the light of International Women’s Day (IWD), where 9 strong and empowered women received prestigious recognitions in the event for their exemplary role in breaking gender biases in the digital space under 8 categories.
M. A. Mannan, MP, Minister of Planning, joined the event virtually as the Chief Guest. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director (Additional Secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, ICT Division, along with Naheed Ezaher Khan MP was present at the event as the Special guest. Founder & Managing Partner of SBK Tech Ventures & SBK Foundation Sonia Bashir Kabir graced the event with her Keynote speech. Anika Islam, Founder and CEO of Nibedita Womens Community were also present at the event along with other distinguished guests.
Nibedita is a community formed with a view to helping all women in the society. Nibedita’s mission is to empower women with a variety of skills, technologies and lifestyle know-how to better empower themselves, enabling them to contribute into society. As a part of establishing its vision, Nibedita took the step to honor these empowered women.
Women who received recognition are Shahnaz Shimul Rahman (Beauty Blogger); Dr. Kashfiaa Amina and Habiba Akter Shurovy (Fashion Blogger); Nusrat Islam (Food Blogger); Shams Afroz Chowdhury (Content Creator: Entertainment); Samina Sara (Makeup Artist); Kamrunnesa Mira (Social Cause/Well-being); Kamrun N. Koly (Mental Health/Fitness) and Ishrat Amin (Travel and Photography).
An in-depth panel discussion on “Impact of Biasness on Mental Health and Emotional Intelligence” was held at the event, where the speakers shed light on various aspects of mental health, how it is affected by others’ perspectives and how women can solve problems with a proactive attitude applying emotional intelligence. Another key attraction of the event was the “Daraz Power-couple Discussion” session, where prominent and successful couples – Zara Mahbub and Naveed Mahbub; Sadia Haque and Kashef Rahman– shared their success stories and discussed why it is important to support each other’s objectives in life as partners.
Besides the award winners, six more women– Tahseen Bahar Suchona, Ayreen Khan, Tahera Nazrin, Nobonita Chowdhury, Nuzhat Chowdhury, and Mahfuza Liza – were handed over honorary awards for their ambitious exploration in the own field.
