11 teachers honored with ‘Priyo Shikkhok Shommanona’ recognition

Eleven teachers have been honored with the ‘PriyoShikkhokShommanona’ at an award-giving ceremony held on 22 March, 2022, at the capital’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel.

This is the third time the platform has recognized the extraordinary contributions of school-level teachers across thecountry.

Mustafa Jabbar, Minister, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications & Information Technology; Asaduzzaman Noor, Cultural Personality and former MP; Educationist Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad; Matiur Rahman, Editor, The Daily Prothom Alo; and Mominul Islam, Managing Director and CEO, IPDC Finance Limited were present at the event.The host of the event was Munir Hasan, Head of Prothom Alo’s Youth Programme.

The nominations for the event, a joint venture between IPDC and Prothom Alo, started on October 5, 2021. 1,697 nominations were received from across the country.

 A five-member jury selected 11 teachers to receive the award. The jury was chaired by Dr. Perween Hasan, Chairperson Vice-Chancellor, Central Women’s University. The members of the jury were Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim Khan, Professor, Department of Mathematics, BUET; Dr. Mohammad Mostak Ahmed, Associate Professor & Head of Bangla Department at Leading University in Sylhet;Jahura Begum, Principal of Udayan Higher Secondary School, and Dr. B M Mainul Hossain, Associate Professor at the Institute of Information Technology (IIT).

The winners include Abdus Sattar, Headmaster, 129 South SakhipurSikdarbari Government Primary School; SM Shahabuddin, Former Assistant Teacher, Ghugrakathi Government Primary School; Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Former Headmaster, Khollilur RahmanHigh School, Noakhali; Taposh Majumdar, Senior Teacher, Government Laboratory High School, Mymensingh; Mitali Prabha De, AssistantTeacher, Gorakghata Government Primary School; Md. Shofiar Rahman, Former Assistant Teacher, Rangpur District School, Rangpur; Haider Ali, Assistant Teacher, DiarGarfaKhairash High School, Boroigram, Natore; Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Assistant Teacher, Indurdi High School, Baliakandi, Rajbari; Raushan Ara Begum, Former Assistant Headmaster, BograZila School, Bogra; Shahnaz Parveen, Assistant Teacher, UpazilaSadar Model Government Primary School, Sherpur,Bogra; and Srivas Chandra Biswas, Headmaster, Shalikha Thana Secondary School, Shalikha, Magura.
