Healthcare Start-up Dhaka Cast Limited organized a webinar on the occasion of world health day.
Grameenphone’s Chief Executive Officer Yasir Ajman was the chief guest at the webinar titled by Reasons for Facing the Challenges of Healthcare in the Country through the Use of Information and Communication Technology. Country’s top health experts also took part at the webinar.
Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenhone said, currently many people in our country are using smart devices which generate a lot of heat that has negative impact on environment. Grameenphone also uses fossil fuel to run its network which is not good for the environment. We are currently trying to switch to renewable energy sources which drastically decrease environmental pollution.
Dr Fahreen Hannan, Founder of Dhaka Cast Limited, Dhaka Cast Ltd. started its journey in December 2019. After government announced lockdown in March 2020, Dhaka Cast found itself in a very unique situation. During lockdown, we served 1200 Covid-19 patients. Till date, Dhaka Cast served 3000 diabetic patients. We also started our service in Sylhet on pilot basis and found great success.
Prof Dr Nuzhat Choudhury, (Vitreo-Retina) Department of Opthalmology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital delivered the keynote speech on challenges of universal health coverage for Non-Communication Disease (NCD).
She said, universal healthcare means providing healthcare to all the citizens of a country at affordable cost. We must make major changes in our healthcare system if we want to improve the situation. At the same time, we have to raise awareness among people by organizing social movements.
Prof Dr Md Sk Shahidullah, Office Secretary, Bangladesh Medical Association, Dr Abdun Noor Tushar, Advisor, Foundation for Doctor’s Safety and Rights (FDSR), Dr Md Firoz Amin, Professor of Endocrinology and Head of Department (BIRDEM) also spoke at the webinar.
