NSU observes National Mourning Day

North South University (NSU) organized a discussion Session and Dua Mahfil to mark the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day 2022 on Monday, a press release said.

To pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of 15th August, North South University has organized a comprehensive program. At 5.34 am, the National Flag was hoisted and kept at half-mast at NSU. Floral wreaths were placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at NSU Plaza at 9 am. NSU officials and students paid tribute at 10 am in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, Dhanmondi to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs by placing wreaths. After the tributes, everyone participated in prayers and Fateha Path for the souls of Bangabandhu and the martyrs who died on August 15, 1975.

Freedom Fighter Lt. Col. Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir (Retd.) Bir Protik was present as the chief guest. Aziz AI Kaiser and Ms. Yasmin Kamal, Members,board of trustees, NSU were present as special guests. Professor Atiqul Islam, VC of NSU chaired the program.The program was moderated by Jamil Ahmed, TV presenter & director – Public Relations Office at NSU.

Chief Guest, Freedom Fighter Lt. Col. Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir (Retd.) Bir Protiksaid, Bangabandhu dreamed of a non-communal, non-discriminatory and prosperous country.The Foresight, struggle and self-sacrifice ofBangabandhu inspired the whole nation to achieve freedom.

Special Guest, Member, Board of trustees, NSU, Aziz AI Kaiser said, “If Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had not broughtindependence to ourcountry, we would not have this beautiful country today.

Special Guest, Member, Board of trustees, NSU, Ms. Yasmin Kamal said, “We got an independent country under the strong leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh means Bangabandhu. We have to play a role in the formation of the country by holding the ideals of Bangabandhu in our hearts.
