Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni Tuesday said the Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Dakhil and SSC/Dakhil (Vocational) exams will start on September 15 next.
“The examinations were scheduled to be held on June 19. But it was postponed due to devastating flood in Sylhet, Mymensingh and northern areas of the country. Now it will begin on September 15,” she said.
The minister was addressing a press meet at her ministry in secretariat here.
While replying to the queries of the newsmen, she said, “In future, exams will be postponed in only those specific regions to be affected by natural calamities, and exams in the remaining areas will take place accordingly.”
Due to the global pandemic, the marks and time of the exams were reduced by the government.
“The exam will be held on a restructured short syllabus and its schedule has also been changed… Now it will be held at 11am instead of 10am,” the minister said.
This year, 20, 21,868 candidates of 29,591 institutions under nine general boards, madrasha and technical education boards will appear in SSC and equivalents examinations at a total 3,790 centres across the country.
A number of 15, 99,711 candidates will take part in the SSC exam under nine general boards while 2, 68,495 will sit for Dakhil and 1, 53,662 for vocational examinations.
