Veteran photojournalist Matiur Rahman dies in Canada

Matiur Rahman, a veteran photojournalist breathed his last on 20 October 2022 in a hospital in Toronto, Canada due to health complications. He was 76.

Rahman, elder brother of renowned Bangladeshi journalist Saleem Samad, survived by his only son, wife and two grandchildren.

Rahman, a permanent member of Jatiya Press Club, had a colourful career in photo-journalism. He began his career as a Staff Photographer of the defunct Morning News and The New Nation. He later joined the prestigious Dubai newspaper the Khaleej Times and served as senior photo Editor.

His works have been prominently featured in documentaries and exhibitions held in Dubai, UAE, Toronto, Canada and Dhaka, Bangladesh.
