A Dhaka court Sunday placed three private university students on five days’ remand in a case filed for possessing Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the order after hearing when the three were produced before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
The remanded are Sadman Sakib Rupol and Ashraf Wadud Turjo, students of North South University, and Adib Ahsan, a student of Independent University Bangladesh.
In the case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on May 26, the investigating officer of the case SI Salahuddin Quader applied for the remand for seven days. On that day, the court sent the accused to jail and fixed the remand hearing on Sunday, May 30.
The defendants were shown present virtually from prison. On behalf of the accused, their lawyers applied for bail seeking cancellation of remand. But the bail was opposed by the state. After hearing both sides, the court granted a five-day police remand.

On the night of May 26, Detective Branch of police of Ramna Division seized the drug LSD from a house in the capital. DB police arrested the three students on charges of being involved in the sale of LSD. At that time, 200 LSDs were seized from them.
