North South University (NSU) celebrated the first anniversary of ‘Media, Communication, and Journalism’ program operating under the Department of Political Science & Sociology. The program was last year founded with a twin vision to cultivate professional capacity and bridge the gap between the newsroom and the classrooms. To mark this momentous occasion, a joyous celebration was held at NSU on August 6, 2022.
The festive celebration took place in the University’s Syndicate Hall, chaired by Professor Dr. Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of NSU. Professor Atiqul affirmed NSU’s determination to develop highly skilled media workers who are well-equipped with modern technology.
Mr. Shykh Seraj, Founder Director and Head of News at Channel i was the chief guest of the event. He highlighted various aspects of his famous TV programs on agriculture. He emphasized the crucial role of journalism in informing the Fourth Industrial Revolution about diverse subjects, including technical advancements and cutting-edge research. He also highlighted the significance of media professionals in shaping public knowledge and understanding during this era of rapid technological transformation.
Professor Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Chair, Department of Political Science & Sociology and Director, SIPG, NSU welcomed everyone and shared notable achievements of the ‘Media, Communication, and Journalism’ program. Dr. Harisur Rahman, Associate Professor, Media, Communication, and Journalism Program, NSU presented a yearly overview of Media, Communication, and Journalism.
Professor Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Professor & Dean, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, NSU also spoke. The program was attened by, among others: Dr. Samiksha Koirala, Assistant Professor, Media, Communication, and Journalism Program, NSU; Asif Bin Ali, Faculty, Media, Communication, and Journalism Program, NSU, and among other dignitaries.
Dr. S.M Rezwan Ul Alam, Associate Professor, Media, Communication, and Journalism Program and Director, Public Relations Office, NSU moderated the program. Dr. Md. Towfique E Elahi, Assistant Professor, Media, Communication, and Journalism Program, NSU offered vote of thanks.
