AL considers itself owner of country: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, ‘The present constitution is the constitution made by Awami League. Where no questions can be asked, no changes can be made.

But the constitution is made for the people. So why not change? In fact, the biggest problem of Awami League is that they think they own this country. They no longer think that the country belongs to the people. A strong shake is now needed to get out of this idea.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting on ‘Constitutional and Human Rights Protection of Citizens’ organized by the Gono Odhikar Parishad at Independence Hall on Wednesday (August 23).

He said, “In this case, change is not possible without the youth.” I see less of their presence in these matters. You have to think about it. The change must be done by the youth. Youth play a key role in changing the state. The truth of it can be seen only if you look at the previous history.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “Elections will be held according to the constitution, people are being cheated by saying that.” They have created the constitution according to their needs, canceled the supervisory system. However, the Awami League made a continuous movement for the caretaker government. If it was permissible then, why not now?

He said, ‘I saw in a newspaper today that I was called a liar. Name calling is not political etiquette. However, there is no political etiquette in Awami League. Politics of always brutal behavior and unbridled lies.

The growth they talk about in the country is all of their own making. They are doing the biggest damage to the country by cheating the people. Our goal is only one, to remove them and create a people’s government.

Writer Ehsan Mahmud, General Secretary Rashed Khan, Journalist Mahbub Morshed, AB Party Convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury, BNP Joint Secretary General Moazzem Hossain, Dhaka University International Relations Department Chairman Ruhul Amin and others attended the meeting under the chairmanship of Public Rights Council President Nurul Haque Noor.
