Saif Powertec signs deal with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata and Saif Powertec Ltd., Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday to explore opportunities for reducing time and cost of transporting cargo from main land India to its northeastern part avoiding the Siliguri and Guwahati corridors.

Rathendra Raman I.R.T.S, of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port attended the the MoU signing ceremony as the chairperson. R.S.Rajhans, Traffice Manager of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, and Md. Ruhul Amin, Tarafder, Managing Director of Saif Powertec, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.

High officials of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port and Saif Powertec were also present.

The distance from kolkata to Agortala is approx 1619 kms via Siliguri, but it is approximately 575kms via Chattogram port. It takes 6-7 days for a truck to cover the distance via Siliguri but via Chattagrame port it will take only four days from Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Kolkata.

Saif Powertec and Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port both will explore options to promote India-Bangladesh trade through Mongla and Chattogram port to the northeast India.
