Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina and head of AL led 14-party alliance is holding a meeting with the members of the alliance at her official Gonobhaban residence in the capital on Monday evening.

The meeting began at 6pm. After Maghrib prayer, leaders of the alliance, including Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Anwar Hosen Monju, Nazibul Bashar, entered the Gonobhaban.

According to the election schedule, the returning officer began the scrutiny of the nomination papers for candidates on December 1, and the process concluded on Monday.

Meanwhile, Awami League declared candidates for 298 constituencies on November 26, leaving two seats – Kushtia-2 and Narayanganj-5 – vacant, dropping 72 current parliament members.

Ever since the announcement of the election schedule, the 14-party alliance has been hoping for an agreement on seat-sharing.

The participants have already submitted the list of the seats they are expecting and which seats are most important among those. This list will reportedly be presented by the coordinator of the alliance in the meeting. After that, Sheikh Hasina will analyze the list and give a decision later.

A committee may be formed under the leadership of Amir Hossain Amu, the coordinator of the alliance.
