BSAF for inclusion of child rights in electoral manifestoes

Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) has demanded the inclusion child rights issues in the electoral manifestoes of the political parties.

A position paper in this regard was handed over to Dr Abdur Razzak, convener of Awami League’s electoral manifesto committee by BSAF on behalf of BSAF and its partner organizations, including Right to Grow Consortium and Max Foundation on Tuesday.

They also demanded a budget at the union council level to improve the nutritional status of the children under the age of five.

BSAF has been working as a network of 300 organisations engaged in pushing child rights issues at national and international levels since 1989.

It was also proved that the initiative taken by the Right to Grow Consortium in 40 unions under four coastal districts that appropriate budget allocation can contribute positively to the improvement of the nutritional status of children. Now it’s time to adopt the model at the national framework and spread across the country, the BSAF said in the position paper.

The BSAF and the Right to Grow Consortium have been campaigning among the political parties ahead of the next general elections to include malnutrition issue of the children in their electoral manifestoes.
