Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) and Right to Grow Consortium (RGC) Thursday submitted a memorandum (position paper) to the Jatiya Party demanding inclusion of child rights issues in their electoral manifesto.

BSAF Chairman Md. Mahbubul Islam submitted the position paper to JP secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu, MP, at the JP office. Shafia Sami, BSAD Coordinator & Consultant, Iqbal Azad and Md Faysal Ahmed of RGC and Samia Ahmed of Save the Children, were also present.

The JP secretary general said his party would soon come up with the electoral manifesto and the child rights issues as well as the issue of improving the nutritional status of children will get prominence in their manifesto.

They also demanded a budget at the union council level to improve the nutritional status of the children under the age of five.

BSAF has been working as a network of 300 organisations engaged in pushing child rights issues at national and international levels since 1989, while the Right to Grow Consortium is working in 40 unions under four coastal districts.

The two organisations have been campaigning among the political parties ahead of the next general elections to include malnutrition issue of the children in their electoral manifestoes.
