DIU opens M. Sc. in Cyber Security Program

Daffodil International University (DIU) is offering M.Sc.  in Cyber Security under the Department of Software Engineering from next January spring semester 2024. This was informed at the ‘Meet the Press’ program held 09 December 2023 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil Plazaa Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi in the capital. said a press release.

Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman,Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Family was present at the ‘Meet the Press’ program as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Syed Akhtar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Teachnology (FSIT) of Daffodil International University readout the written speech among the journalist.The Meet the Press was also addressed by Dr. Imran Mahmud,Associate Professor and Headof the Department of Software Engineering of the University, Md. Maruf Hassan, Associate Professor & Program Director of M. Sc. in Cyber Security and Dr. Shapla Khatun, Assistant Professor, Department of Software Engineering of the university.

Dr. Md. Imran Ahmed said, that  M.Sc. in Cyber Security is an extensive program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills. The curriculum is crafted to provide a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of cybersecurity. Key areas of focus include Cryptography, Network and System Security, Digital Forensics, Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Information Security Risk Management, and Information Systems Audit and Assurance. This diverse curriculum ensures that our students are well-equipped to tackle the multifaceted challenges of the cybersecurity world.

Program Director of M. Sc. in Cyber Security said, the program is structured to cater to different academic backgrounds. For students with an IT background, the program duration is 1.5 years (3 semesters) and for students from a non-IT background, the duration is extended to 2 years (4 semesters). Students have the option to choose between a thesis-based and a project-based Master’s program. This flexibility allows them to tailor their learning experience according to their career aspirations and interests.

The cost of the program is structured to be accessible while maintaining the highest standards of education. For IT background students, the program costs range from Tk. 145375 for the thesis-based option to Tk. 148375 for the project-based option. For non-IT background students, the costs are Tk. 223750 for the thesis-based program and Tk. 226750 for the project-based program.
