AL seeks permission to hold rally on Victory Day

The Awami League sent a letter to Dhaka divisional commissioner, also the returning officer of the area, for seeking permission to hold a rally to mark Victory Day on Saturday (December 16).

According to the letter, the programme would begin at 2pm at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Ramna and end at Dhanmondi 32.

The letter, signed by Dhaka South Awami League Office Secretary Riaz Uddin Riaz, was sent on Friday.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, will be the chief guest at the rally. Central leaders of the party, cabinet members, members of parliament, and leaders and activists of affiliate organisations will also attend the rally.

Meanwhile, Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday issued a letter to law enforcement agencies and others concerned, saying no political programme will be allowed ahead of national elections.
