Two Bangladeshis shot dead by BSF along Chuadanga border

Two Bangladeshi cattle traders were reportedly shot to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Garadi border area under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district on Saturday.

The incident took place at night near the main post number-82 of Bangladesh-India border in Garadi area at Bijaypur border inside India.

The deceased were Sajedur Rahman, 27, son of Haider Ali, and Khaja Mainuddin, 30, son of Shariatullah, residents of Chigharia village under the upazila.

Damurhuda’s Parakrishnapur-Madna UP chairman SAM Zakaria Alam said some cattle traders went to India to bring cattle illegally through Garadi border on Saturday night. When they entered the border area of Bijaypur inside India, the members of Gobindpur BSF battalion fired on them. Sajedur Rahman and Khawaja Moinuddin died on the spot. Their bodies have been kept at Krishnaganj Hospital for autopsy.

Darshana Police Station officer-in-charge Biplab Kumar Saha confirmed it.

He said the legal process to bring the bodies back to the country is underway.
