Marico, CSR Window clean Hatirjheel Lake on IVD

On International Volunteer Day (IVD), Marico Bangladesh Limited a leading FMCG)fast moving consumer goods) company, joined hands with CSR Window, a premier CSR consulting, implementation, and research firm in Bangladesh, to spearhead a cleanup initiative at Hatirjheel, a beloved lakefront in Dhaka.

The primary objective was to raise awareness about environmental concerns and promote volunteerism among citizens. The cleanup drive witnessed the active participation of over 30 volunteers, including the members of Management team of Marico Bangladesh, alongside volunteers and the organizing team of CSR Window, says a press release.

The volunteers spent the day collecting and disposing of over 20 kg of plastic and litter from the Hatirjheel lakeside. In addition to their cleanup efforts, they engaged with the local community, urging them to avoid littering and to contribute to the preservation of the lakes cleanliness and beauty.

This endeavor seamlessly aligned with the Companys “Be the Impact” Talent Value Proposition (TVP), inspiring members to take actions that positively impact society and demonstrate a commitment to environmental responsibility. As responsible corporate citizens, Marico members pledged to address and resolve social issues in their operational areas throughout the year, offering their time, expertise, and effort. The event underscored the collective potency of humanity to drive positive change through volunteerism.

K M Sabbir Ahmed, Director-HR of Marico Bangladesh, expressed his delight, stating, “As responsible corporate citizens, we believe in giving back to the community and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). We appreciate the efforts of our volunteers, who demonstrated solidarity and enthusiasm for this noble cause.”

In an impressive collective effort, the volunteers contributed a total of 90+ hours, with each employee dedicating 3 hours to the cause. The cleanup initiative not only reflected immediate positive change but also aimed to address the long-term environmental impact, reinforcing Marico Bangladesh and CSR Windows commitment to a sustainable future.
