National Seminar on youth skill development

JAAGO Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), recently hosted the Passport 2 Earning Introduction Seminar, an engaging event to foster youth leadership and skill development. said a press release.

It witnessed the active participation of more than 415 young leaders coming from 64 districts of Bangladesh, as well as diverse professionals, experts and related stakeholders dedicated to skill program development, training and field implementation. The seminar served as a platform to engage in empowering the youth to shape the future of communities.

The half-day-long event was inaugurated with the Welcoming P2E (Passport to Earning) session led by the JAAGO Foundation, introducing the young participants to the program and its significance in fostering future skills for youth. P2E is a digital learning  platform designed to empower youths with essential skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Marianne Oehlers, Programme Manager, Generation Unlimited Bangladesh, UNICEF, had given an insightful overview of the Passport to Earning program. She emphasized the importance of skill training in preparing the youth for their future endeavours. These skills enhance employability by making them valuable assets for Bangladesh and foster personal growth by strengthening relationships, building emotional intelligence, and promoting resilience. Investing in skill training equips young individuals with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of life and achieve success in various domains.

Chairman of JAAGO Foundation Trust, Mr Korvi Rakshand, said, “Equipping our youth with tangible skills isn’t just about securing their futures, it’s about unlocking the collective potential of Bangladesh. By nurturing communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities, we empower them to become not only valuable employees but also effective leaders, active volunteers, and agents of positive change. This investment in skills is the cornerstone of youth empowerment, fostering a future where young people can lead, contribute, and shape a brighter Bangladesh.”

Marianne Oehlers, Programme Manager, Generation Unlimited, UNICEF Bangladesh, said, “Investing in employable skills for young people, especially girls and young women, is not just about job readiness for the individual, but also about building a brighter future for Bangladesh. Today is a very special day as we are launching Passport to Earning (P2E) right here at the Youth Empowerment Summit with 400 youth leaders from across the country. P2E is a new digital learning platform for employment, entrepreneurship, and social impact opportunities designed with, for, and by young people and employers in Bangladesh. The platform offers free and certified quality courses designed with young people in mind and validated by employers with a focus on the practical application of knowledge! Over the next three years, together with Jaago Foundation Trust, Volunteer for Bangladesh, and other public, private, and youth partners, we aim to reach every corner of Bangladesh and engage at least 350,000 young people in this exciting opportunity!”

Throughout the session, the youths were introduced to the courses being offered free of charge on the P2E platform. Showcasing the effectiveness of the courses offered, expert mentors demonstrated a course on skill development, which captivated the young audience. Following the session, questions from the participants were answered by the moderators and facilitators for JAAGO foundation.
