State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said steps have already been taken to develop and enhance the network system of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited throughout the country.
“The government has taken initiative to develop and enhance the teletalk network system across the country”, he said while responding to a star-mark query raised by Jatiya Party lawmaker ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader of Patuakhali-1 during the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad here.
As the numbers of BTS site tower of the government mobile company, teletalk Bangladesh Limited, are comparatively less than the other private mobile operators and that’s why the network of the teletalk is not equally available like other mobile operators.
Under the initiative, he said installation of 3,000 new BTS sites (towers) is now being implemented under the project to expand the Teletalk mobile phone network at village level and also to modernize the existing network to provide 5G services.
The installation of 420 new BTS sites (tower) is now underway in the remote Chattogram Hill Tract, haor and other coastal and island areas with a finance-social responsibility fund.
In addition to this, around 2,000 BTS sites (towers) will also be constructed at the union level under 4G mobile network service.
