The decision was taken on Wednesday (July 31) at a joint meeting of the primary and mass education ministry and the directorate of primary education in Dhaka.
But primary schools in the 12 city corporations and those in the Narsingdi municipality area won’t be reopened now.
The primary schools were declared closed after the quota reform protest turned violent.
Later, the Ministry of Education announced the closure of all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions, including schools, colleges, madrasas, technical institutes, and polytechnic institutes, until further notice.
The decision was taken in consideration of the safety of students attending these institutions.
