Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, vice chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) in Chattogram, has resigned from his position.
University Registrar Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter on Thursday saying that the VC sent his resignation letter citing personal reasons.
Earlier on Tuesday, general students of the university placed a 3-point demand to the deputy director of the university’s student welfare department Professor Dr. Mo Saiful Islam.
They demanded the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Director of Student Welfare and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology within 48 hours and appointment of Acting Vice-Chancellor by August 15.
Later, Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam submitted his resignation letter on Wednesday.
When asked, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Students do not want me. So, for the sake of CUET, I have resigned and sent the resignation letter to the registrar.”
National university vc Moshiur RAhman also resign.
Meanwhile, the student welfare director Md Rezaul Karim has also been relieved from his post by the university administration.
