NSU waives tuition and other fees

The Board of Trustees of North South University (NSU) has decided to waive 20 percent of the tuition fees and 100 percent of all other fees for all students admitted in the summer semester of 2024.

The decision was made because the current semester was affected by the recent anti-discrimination student movement and the resulting political changes in Bangladesh. In addition, it has been decided to cancel all fees related to student internships starting in the summer semester of 2024.

The NSU Board of Trustees has announced plans to introduce student transport services. Besides, several initiatives are being taken to focus on the students’ mental health. These include a new online (via app and hotline) counseling program and a new on-campus in-person counseling program (through external partner agencies).

The NSU Board of Trustees has decided to create an appropriate framework and platform for exchanging ongoing and periodic ideas, recommendations, and feedback between faculty, students, and administration.

“The NSU campus will be free from student politics of any political party. This is one of the founding principles of NSU, and it will be strictly maintained,” said Javed Muneer Ahmad, chairman of the NSU Board of Trustees.

There are many other decisions yet to be taken by the NSU Board of Trustees or by the NSU Administration. Apart from these, several issues, including the tri-semester system, are not entirely NSU’s decision to make because those are governed by the regulations of the University Grant Commission (UGC) and Education Ministry. We will keep you updated on all ongoing decisions that are being evaluated seriously and as quickly as possible.
