44% believe that AI can be a better boss than a human

Kaspersky’s recent study highlights the growing integration of AI in various aspects of life, from work to personal decisions.

ChatGPT, one of the most popular AI chatbots, saw rapid growth, with 153 million visits in its first month after launching in November 2022, reaching 2 billion visits by April 2024. The study reveals that 44% of respondents view AI as a potentially fairer manager than a human, while 56% foresee AI playing a significant role in education through virtual experiences and Metaverses. Over half of the respondents (53%) consider AI an inevitable part of life, with 51% expressing optimism about its ability to create exciting opportunities and improve the future. In creative fields, 56% believe AI can produce credible art. Moreover, AI is seen as a useful companion, with 70% of respondents willing to rely on it for everyday efficiency.

When it comes to social interactions, 62% are open to AI-powered conversations, and 37% would use AI to find romantic partners. However, 56% believe AI could eventually reshape human relationships, replacing real-life partners with virtual characters.

To combat AI-driven threats like phishing, deepfakes, and identity theft, Kaspersky recommends installing a trusted cybersecurity solution, verifying requests through alternative methods before sharing data or money, and using a privacy checker to safeguard personal information.

“We are witnessing the growing adoption of AI as a valuable tool, assisting people in diverse areas. Beyond traditional applications, such as processing and analyzing data, AI is being entrusted with more intriguing personal roles, including romance, education, and work. As AI technologies continue to evolve, their potential to drive innovation and improve human experiences becomes even more profound. However, this advancement also brings unexpected risks and sophisticated threats, ranging from overreliance — putting too much trust in AI advice — to AI-generated phishing, deepfakes and identity theft. These are the challenges that we need to address across multiple levels,” comments Vladislav Tushkanov, Research development group manager at Kaspersky.
