Wushu Federation holds discussion on sports development

Wushu Federation of Bangladesh organized a meeting bringing together key figures from both Bangladesh and the Chinese Embassy to discuss the future of Wushu in the country, a press release said Thursday.

The event was marked by lively discussions about cultural exchange and sports development. Mohammad Dulal Hossain, General Secretary of the Federation, hosted a special dinner on the occasion.

Among the distinguished guests were Efaz Ahmed, Vice President of the Wushu Federation, Mohammad Sayem Islam Tutul, Executive Committee Member, and Abul Kalam Azad, Admin of the Federation. Representing the Chinese Embassy were Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor, Sun Kanging, Cultural Attaché, and Zhu Yong, Third Secretary.

The dinner began with a warm exchange of ideas on how both nations can foster closer cultural ties through Wushu. Efaz Ahmed highlighted the immense potential for Wushu to serve as a bridge between Bangladesh and China, not only as a sport but as a cultural connector. Li Shaopeng emphasized the Chinese Embassy’s commitment to supporting the development of Wushu in Bangladesh, pledging to provide guidance and resources. Sun Kanging and Zhu Yong also expressed their enthusiasm for strengthening ties through sporting events and cultural exchanges.

The highlight of the evening was a collaborative discussion about upcoming Wushu events. Plans were laid out for both national tournaments and international participations, with the goal of putting Bangladesh on the global Wushu map. The Chinese delegates pledged their full support, discussing the possibility of training programs, exchange visits, and further technical support to help elevate the sport in Bangladesh.

As the evening came to a close, both parties expressed optimism about the future. This event marked a significant step toward deepening the friendship between Bangladesh and China, with Wushu standing as a symbol of shared goals and mutual respect.
