Health authorities in Bangladesh have registered 17 more deaths and 1,178 new infections from Covid-19 across the country in last 24 hours to Wednesday morning.
With the latest figures, the country’s total Covid-19 death toll reaches 27,487 while the number of total case count reached 1555,051 so far, according to the daily handout issued by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country reported 4.12 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 28,599 samples were tested in the past 24 hours while the total positivity rate stands at 16.02 percent.
The recovery count rose to 1514,962 after another 1,086 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 97.42 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.
Among the 17 deceased, 10 were men and 7 were women.
Of them, one was between 31-40, one between 41-50, four between 51-60 and six between 61-70, four between 71-80 and and one between 81-90 years old years old, added the release.
According to the DGHS, as of 27 September, nearly 56% men and 44% women got the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while over 57% men and 42.67% women received the second dose.
Bangladesh has so far carried out two mass vaccination campaigns on 7 August and 28 September.
The Covid-19 victims’ gender breakdown shows that 17,645 of the total deceased across the country were men and 9,842 were women.
