According to the schedule of a visit of only 24 hours, Biden went to his residence Bellevue Palace to meet German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Friday morning local time. He was given a guard of honor there.
After exchanging pleasantries with the President, Joe Biden joined the press conference. As a sign of friendship between the United States and Germany, Biden was awarded the highest civilian medal ‘Bundesfürdinstörden’ by German President Steinmeier. Besides, the Russia-Ukraine war was also discussed in the meeting between the two leaders. Scholz warned that disaster would be inevitable if NATO became involved in the ongoing war. Meanwhile, Biden said that like Berlin, Washington will also be on the side of Kiev.
Later, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met the US President at the German Chancellor’s office. At that time, NATO’s role in the Russia-Ukraine war, resolution of the ongoing crisis in Israel and Palestine, regional and trans-Atlantic issues including G-7 were on the discussion table.
US President Joe Biden left Berlin on a special Air Force One flight at 6 pm local time after a day-long non-stop visit.
