North South University (NSU) hosted an insightful seminar on “Higher Education Opportunities in the USA,” attracting an enthusiastic audience of students, faculty members, and distinguished guests. The event aimed to guide students aspiring to study in the United States, offering valuable insights into the application process and academic pathways available abroad.
As the Chief Guest, Stephen Ibelli, Public Affairs Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, attended the seminar. In his speech, Mr. Ibelli highlighted the transformative impact of American education, stating, “World-class American education is truly life changing. Bangladeshi students in the U.S. act as ambassadors, connecting the two countries through shared experiences.”
The seminar was presided over by NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, who underscored the significance of higher education in developing global leaders. He encouraged students to take full advantage of international study programs to broaden their horizons and advance their careers.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences at NSU. Dr. Samiksha Koirala, Director of External Affairs at NSU, then presented NSU’s vision for higher education. This was followed by an insightful presentation from Rifat Swapnil, Outreach Coordinator at EducationUSA, who discussed U.S. higher education opportunities for Bangladeshi students. Ms. Swapnil emphasised the unique advantage of choosing from over 4,000 universities in the U.S., highlighting the significant academic and professional growth opportunities available to students pursuing their studies at American institutions.
The seminar concluded with a lively Q&A session, where participants engaged directly with the speakers. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks from Professor Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Acting Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at NSU.
Dr. Rizwan Khair, Associate Professor & Chair of Political Science and Sociology at NSU, and Rafe Sadnan Adel, Director of the Public Relations Office at NSU, guided the guests through a tour of NSU’s TV, Radio & Digital Lab, as well as the graffiti art installation in front of the campus.
