Eminent jurist and constitution expert Dr Kamal Hossain Saturday suggested updating the country’s constitution.
He made the suggestion when a delegation of the Constitution Reform Commission, led by its head Professor Ali Riaz, paid a courtesy call on him at his Motijheel office in the capital.
Dr Kamal had served as the head of the Constitution Drafting Committee of the Bangladesh Constituent Assembly in 1972.
“Dr Kamal Hossain told the Constitution Reform Commission to update the constitution,” said a release signed by Md Sabbir Mahmud, the public relations officer in charge of the Constitutional Reform Commission (Deputy Director of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat) here today.
Welcoming the delegation, Kamal Hossain expressed his confidence in the process to reform the constitution.
He exchanged pleasantries with the head of the commission and other members of the delegation.
Commission members Professor Sumaiya Khair, Barrister Imran Siddique, Professor Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Dr Sharif Bhuiyan, Barrister M Moin Alam Ferozi, Feroze Ahmed and Md Mustain Billah were in the delegation, the release added.
