As in past years, the Pharma Fest at North South University proved to be one of the most anticipated events on campus. This year’s theme, “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs,” highlighted the essential role of pharmacists in healthcare, paired with the motivating slogan “Discover, Develop, Deliver.” The event was graced by Mr. M. Mohibuz Zaman, Chief Operating Officer of ACI Pharma and the Managing Director and CEO of ACI Healthcare under ACI Ltd., who served as the Chief Guest.
The 11th season of Pharma Fest was presented by Techno Pharmaceuticals as the title sponsor, with Square Pharmaceuticals as a co-sponsor and Renata PLC Pharmaceuticals Ltd sponsoring the Pharma Olympiad. The event brought together students from North South University’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and participants from other notable universities, providing them with a unique opportunity to connect with leaders from the country’s top pharmaceutical companies and share innovative ideas.
Pharma Fest 2024 featured an array of activities, including stall exhibitions by the students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, poster presentations from various universities, health screenings, a competitive Pharma Olympiad, and lively debate competitions. These events allowed students to showcase their skills and creativity to a broader audience.
The festivities opened with a welcome address by Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who greeted the attendees and esteemed guests while officially launching Pharma Fest 2024.
The Vice-Chancellor of North South University, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, joined as our Session Chair and emphasized the importance of the morality and ethics of pharmacists to serve humanity. He also added, “To me, the Pharmacy program is one of the best programs at NSU”.
Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer, and the Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences, Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra present as our Special Guests, and they spoke about the festivities of Pharma Fest and how it plays into the greater role in tying the students, faculties, and industry bodies together.
The Chief Guest, Mr. M. Mohibuz Zaman, took this occasion to emphasize the importance of having knowledge about diseases and diagnosis along with medicinal knowledge. As part of the inauguration, the Pharma Fest 2024 magazine, designed by the talented Publication team, was unveiled by Junayet Hossain Khan, the Faculty Advisor of NSUPC. Following this, faculty members and distinguished guests visited the scientific stalls and posters, along with pharmaceutical company exhibitions.
The event was wrapped up with a closing ceremony with two additional Special Guests, Arefeen Raafi Ahmed, Executive Director, Techno Drugs Ltd., Zareen Karim, Managing Director, Orion Pharma Ltd., followed by an exciting cultural evening that included musical performances, drama, and a fashion show called “The Pharma Walk,” and ended with a performance by a popular brand, Warfaze.
