BCKT urges govt to form education reform commission

Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust (BCKT) has urged Prof M Aminul Islam, special assistant (state minister rank) of the education ministry, to form an education reform commission comprising all stake holders without any delay.

A five-member team of the Kalyan Trust met Prof Aminul at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday and expressed their concern over the forming of the reform commission, which would reform the education system, the education policy and the curriculum.

During the meeting, Principal Noor E Alam Talukdar, founder and executive director of Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust, said the current interim government had formed six commissions, but it was a matter of great regret that the education reform commission had not been formed as yet. He put emphasis on appointments of qualified teachers in primary schools and arrangements of proper training for them.

Other members of the delegation were Member of Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust and former vice chancellor of Patuakhali Science and Technology University Prof Abdul Atif Masum, President of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal and Director of Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust Ariful Islam Zia, Director of Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust Md Anowar Habib Kazal and Senior Expert of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Md Abdul Mumin Musabbir.
