Book about on Shaheda Mustafiz, the first female programmer of the country

Shaheda Mustafiz is one of the pioneers of the country’s ICT Sector. She is the first female programmer. Her name comes on top of the list of individuals who have contributed to the Information and Communication Technology sector of Bangladesh. Rahitul Islam, the popular writer and journalist, has written a book on her. Shaheda Mustafiz, the hero of Information Technology, is a brief life history of Shahed Mustafiz. The book informs various known and unknown facts of her life.  The book has been published by Pratibhasa. It is the third book in the ‘Heroes of ICT’ series.

Rahitul Islam, writer of the book, says, ‘Women representation in the programming sector is still very rare. In the circumstances, it’s very hard to visualize what was the reality fifty years back. I guess there were no women in this sector. No schools in the country taught computer science at that time. That situation couldn’t hold back Shaheda Mustafiz. But people are forgetting their accomplishments. I am working on to publish 10 books titling ‘Heroes of ICT sector’ on the 10 individuals who had contributed in the country’s ICT sector. The youths of the country will be able to learn how the ICT sector of the country has advanced to this stage. The series will be a historic documentation.’

The coordinator of the Pratibhasa publication, Pantho Deb Roy, informed us that Rahitul Islam began the ‘Heros of ICT sector’ series a long time ago. This is the third book in the series.  Shaheda Mustafiz was active in the ICT sector for nearly 50 years. She is the first female programmer. From this perspective, her memoirs are a document for the next generation.
