North South University (NSU) organized the closing ceremony of “Bangabandhu Battle of Skills 2021” on Friday.
The names of the top 5 winners were announced from more than 2000 videos sent by students of different universities and colleges of the country including North South University in this sports competition.
Md. ZahidAhsan Russell, MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh Government was present as the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony of “Bangabandhu Battle of Skills 2021”. Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU presided over the ceremony. AzimUddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), NSU was present as special Guest on the occasion, a press release said.
Among others, Benajir Ahmed, Mr. TanveerHarun, Members, BoT, Prof. Ismail Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, NSU, Prof. ABM Rashedul Hassan, Treasurer, NSU and others were also present.
The awards ceremony began at 7 pm, Friday at the North South University Auditorium. BNCC North South University Wing gave Guard of Honor to State Minister of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh Government.
Md. ZahidAhsan Russell handed over the honor and prizes to the winners. After the award distribution, the state minister for youth and sports presented his speech as the chief guest of the function.
Md. ZahidAhsan Russell said, “I thank the authorities of North South University for naming the sports competition after the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman. I am glad to know that NSU organizes big sports competitions like inter-university sports program where many students from different universities participate which can be an example for other universities. I am happy to know that NSU, the only private university in Bangladesh, has recently been ranked among the top 500 universities in the world in the QS Employability Rankings 2022, which is a matter of pride for us. In the same way that NSU has retained the top position in terms of quality of education, it is doing so well in sports development and special sponsorship.
AzimUddin Ahmed, Chairman, BoT, NSU said, “The objective of NSU is to achieve advance knowledge, which is not possible without a safe and comfortable learning environment. NSU authorities are committed to creating discipline among students. To acquire this target, we pay special attention to make the students proficient in their studies as well as equally proficient in all kinds of social activities including sports.” He also thanked the North South University Athletics Club for organizing like this program and said, “The overall cooperation of the authorities of NSU in organizing this kind of programs in the future would continue.”
Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU said, “Programs of NSU are nationally and internationally recognized. NSU tops all the rankings. We do research jointly with many reputed organizations. Students come to a university for a good job, NSU graduates are 100 percent employed in a good position in the job market.”
