December is the month of victory. A day of glory and dignity for the Bengali nation. The desired victory was achieved in 1971 at the cost of 3 million martyrs and 3 lakh mothers and sisters losing their dignity in the long 9 month bloody war against the Pakistani aggressors. So the day is more important in our national life than any other day. It will set foot in 50 years of glorious victory. Bengalis will celebrate Victory Day this year with joy and celebration.
As soon as the month of victory begins, red-green flags are displayed on the roofs of houses, buses, launches, trains, private cars, autorickshaws, rickshaws, CNG autorickshaws, motorcycles and bicycles. At one time we had to go to the tailor’s house for the national flag. But now the welfare of the mobile flag sellers is reaching the doorsteps of the people. Our national flag is available at hand. Especially when the victory came on 16th December, carry the flag and walk around with the flag on a long stick. No aisle is left out.
One such flag seller is Abdul Aziz. Abdul Aziz’s village home is in Kakain of Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district. Although he works as a day laborer at other times of the year, he is known as a red-green flag bearer on Victory Day and Independence Day. Carrying the flag, he walks for miles and miles. He sells red and green flags on the way. Patriotic people buy flags with due dignity. He gets a different kind of satisfaction by selling flags than any other profession. A flag for the country who has established with his life. The dignity of walking around with that flag seems different to him. The flag is sold from the beginning of the month of victory till December 16. He sells flags every day from 8 am to evening. Go to the front of each school with the flag. Children buy more flags. He also sold flags in the market. 1 thousand to 1500 rupees are sold in one day. However, as the day of victory draws closer, the sales also increase manifold.
Talking to another flag seller named Nur Alam. He sold flags in Shahbagh, Dhaka University, Bangla Motor, Elephant Road areas of the capital. He said that although flags are not sold in other months, many people including schools, colleges and businesses buy flags. This year, Victory Day will be celebrated differently on the 50th anniversary of the great victory.
Flags are available from mobile flag vendors at Rs 10 to Rs 400 depending on the size and shape. 10 rupees flag paper hand flag and other cloth flags.
It is known that many people buy flags by bargaining but some of them pay a fixed price with flags. Again, many pay more than the set price.
For the welfare of the traveling flag bearers, before the Victory Day, our golden Bengal is decorated with the colors of the flag in the villages. Seeing such a scene fills the chest with pride. Everybody’s memory of different days during the war of independence. So walk on the roads of Bengal with the flag of our dreams and live for hundreds of thousands of years.
