Bangladesh Forward – The New Frontier for Growth

To commemorate Bangladesh’s 50th year of independence and reinforce the partnership between Bangladesh and the USA, an exclusive meeting under the theme ‘Bangladesh Forward – The New Frontier for Growth’ was organized by US Bangladesh Business Council with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, a press release said.

The meeting was attended by SajeebWazed, Hon’ble ICT Affairs Advisor to the Hon’ble Prime Minister; Shahidul Islam, Hon’ble Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States and other high-profile dignitaries representing industry bodies and corporates.

Showcasing GE’s commitment to continue contributing towards Bangladesh’s economic and infrastructure development Deepesh Nanda, CEO, GE Gas Power South Asia talked about GE’s roleplay in transforming the power sector in Bangladesh by bringing advanced gas power technology to generate affordable and reliable power in the country. “We are proud to play a significant role in the power sector, with our technology expected to provide ~6 GW of power generation by 2022while GE is leading the development of upcoming power projects and LNG terminals. With its expanding footprint, GE is able to generate better job opportunities within the region and enhance skill-set of the existing workforce by providing world-class technical trainings.” he said.

Today, GE has an installed base of 38 gas turbines in Bangladesh representing a robust portfolio of gas turbine technologies including H-class, E-class, F-class, Frame 6, and aero-derivatives, installed across operational and upcoming power plants in the country.
