Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has been honoured for its contribution to the development of the apparel and textile industry.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan received the crest from Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Birpatik) MP at a program marking the National Textile Day 2021 in the capital on saturday (December 4.)
Mirza Azam MP, Chairman of Standing Committee on Ministry of Textiles and Jute, attended the program as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said, the RMG industry has been playing role as a catalyst for Bangladesh’s socio-economic development and has more to contribute to building the prosperous country.
The next phase of Bangladesh’s economic growth will largely depend on the industrial sector where the apparel industry would play significant role, he said.
“BGMEA is making all-out efforts to explore every possible avenue for the garment sector of Bangladesh. The industry is increasingly focusing on widening product range, particularly high value-added and non-cotton apparels, market diversification, re-skilling, up-skilling, technological up-gradation and innovation in product development and process optimization,” said Faruque Hassan.
