BGMEA President Faruque Hassan has urged the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to remove customs and bond related impediments and ease procedures along with services in order to propel the growth of RMG industry.
“Business procedures should be made faster and easier to reduce time and cost, which will help accelerate trade and thus facilitate Bangladesh’s economic growth,” he said when a delegation of BGMEA met with Md. Masud Sadiq, Member (Customs Policy), NBR in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The delegation also included Vice President Shahidullah Azim, former First Vice Presidents S M Abu Tayeb and Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and former Director Md. Munir Hossain were also present at the meeting.
In the meeting Faruque Hassan said, “Opportunities are huge for Bangladesh in the global apparel market where competition is also very stiff. Simplified business procedures is a prerequisite to retaining competitiveness and capturing new opportunities.”
He also apprised NBR about customs and bond related difficulties being faced by RMG exporters and called for effective steps to resolve them.
The BGMEA President also urged NBR to take steps including those related to speeding up release of goods and machinery and equipment.
