Popular OTT platform Binge, a concern of Robi Axiata PLC, has once again been recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality and exceptional content to audiences. At the recently concluded Blenders Choice-The Daily Star OTT and Digital Content Awards 2023, Binge secured two prestigious awards, affirming its excellence in the digital entertainment industry.
Renowned director Raihan Rafi won the ‘Best Director’ award for Binge Original web film Friday. Additionally, Binge Original web film Baba Someone’s Following Me was recognized as the ‘Best Film’.
Baba Someone’s Following Me is a social awareness building web film based on the real-life struggles of Bengali immigrants who face racial discrimination abroad. Alongside conveying a powerful anti-racism message, the film also explores a poignant love story. Its exceptional storytelling, expert direction, and gripping thriller elements captivated both audiences and critics alike.
On the other hand, Friday, based on a true story, revolves around the life of a woman named Muna and explores the complexities of her relationships and the harsh realities she faces. Through his masterful direction, Raihan Rafi skilfully brought to life themes of societal struggles, interpersonal conflicts, and life’s bitter truths, leaving a profound impact on viewers. This powerful portrayal earned him the ‘Best Director’ award.
The Blenders Choice-The Daily Star OTT and Digital Content Awards 2023 took place on December 12 at the Hall of Fame, Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka. Winners were selected across 30 categories under four segments—Popular, Critics, Music and Individual Digital Content.
Commenting on the achievement, Binge’s Head of Contents, Umme Khairun Islam said,” This recognition marks a significant milestone for Binge and the country’s OTT industry.
