As part of a cashless initiative of Bangladesh Bank, BRAC Bank has deployed Bangla QR payment facilities in cafeterias in its Head Office. Md. Motasem Billah, Director, Payment Systems Department, Bangladesh Bank; formally launched Bangla QR payment facility in the cafeteria of BRAC Bank in Dhaka on June 13, 2023. Shah Zia-ul Haque, Additional Director; Julia Chowdhury, Additional Director; and Salahuddin Mahmud, Joint Director, Payment Systems Department, Bangladesh Bank; were present. M Masud Rana FCA, Deputy Managing Director & CFO; Md. Sabbir Hossain, Deputy Managing Director & COO; Chowdhury Moinul Islam, Deputy Managing Director & CAMLCO; Syed Abdul Momen, Deputy Managing Director & Head of SME Banking; Md. Shaheen Iqbal, CFA, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Treasury and FIs; Md. Mahiul Islam, Head of Retail Banking; Sheikh Mohammad Ashfaque, Head of Branches, BRAC Bank, and other high officials were also present. BRAC Bank has partnered with Bangladesh Bank to reduce the use of cash in everyday transactions and promote cashless payment methods. As part of this initiative, the bank has rolled out Bangla QR payment at Dhaka University campus and played a leading role in Dhaka city’s ‘Smart Bangladesh Smart Haat’ project.
