A display of integrity by Shah Jamal, an ATM security guard at BRAC Bank, has earned him accolades from its management and customers. In an incident on November 29, at the bank’s ATM booth in Uttara, Shah Jamal discovered an envelope containing significant cash, a mobile handset, important documents, and a signed chequebook. Exhibiting remarkable honesty, he safeguarded the items, anticipating the return of the rightful owner. The envelope’s owner, Morshed Alam, a senior official at a state-owned company, returned in distress an hour later. Recognizing Alam from earlier in the evening, Shah Jamal promptly returned the envelope, averting potential financial and reputational losses for Alam’s company, preparing for an important event the following morning. Moved by Jamal’s integrity, Alam immediately wrote an appreciation note to the senior management of BRAC Bank, commending the security guard’s actions. In response to this act of honesty, BRAC Bank organized a reception ceremony on December 11, to honour Shah Jamal. The event was attended by Syed Abdul Momen, the Acting Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, along with Morshed Alam, Deputy Managing Director & COO Sabbir Hossain, Head of General Services Brig Gen Amin Akbar (Retd.), Head of Alternate Banking Channels Nazmur Rahim, Head of Communications Ekram Kabir, and other senior officials.
