BRAC Bank has hosted a theatrical staging of ‘Ami Birangona Bolchhi’ for female customers and students. Neelima Ibrahim’s masterpiece, ‘Ami Birangona Bolchhi’, has long been recognized as an important literary document that delves into war’s profound impact on women. Spardha: Independent Theatre Collective (Spardha ITC) staged this drama, designed and directed by seasoned director Syed Jamil Ahmed, in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on June 23, 2023, under patronization of BRAC Bank. The exploitation of women during war is often shrouded in silence in society. ‘Ami Birangona Bolchhi’ seeks to challenge existing narratives and foster a collective reflection on the scars left behind by war. As a values-based organization, BRAC Bank nurtures the country’s art, culture and history and works to disseminate the same across society. This theatrical performance allows the bank to show the strength, resilience and honour the valiant women for their heroics in the Liberation War.
