BRAC Bank Reading Café’s Chuadanga chapter engaged in a critique discussion of Humayun Ahmed’s classic debut novel, Nandito Naroke. The discussion was held at the bank’s Chuadanga Branch on September 15. The group of reading enthusiasts, in a monthly reading circle, delved deep into the storyline and were moved by the protagonist’s agony in a stereotypical Bangladeshi society. In ‘Nandito Naroke,’ the writer explores the challenges faced by a middle-class family due to their mentally unwell daughter. The discussants, bankers by profession and avid readers by passion, were captivated by the unique way of storytelling, portrayal of middle-class hardship and social prejudices presented by Humayun Ahmed in his maiden work, ushering his grand entry into Bangla literature.
