Like previous year, buyers can purchase sacrificial animals at the 11 cattle markets in Dhaka and Chattogram through all types of digital payments. Customers are getting the opportunity to pay cattle price and Hasil (charge that buyers pay on the purchasing price) through bKash payment at the cattle markets under the ‘Smart Bangladesh, Smart Haat’ initiative taken by Bangladesh Bank, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Chattogram City Corporation.
This year, cashless bKash payment is available for purchasing sacrificial animals in 9 cattle markets in Dhaka’s Gabtoli, Basila, Aftabnagar, Vatara, Kawla, Uttara Diabari, Mirpur Eastern Housing, Dhaka Polytechnic Playground and Kachakura Rahman Nagar (ward no-44) and Chattogram’s Sagarika and Noor Nagar cattle markets. Also, those who want to buy sacrificial animals with or without cash can pay the Hasil through bKash. They can easily pay the Hasil by scanning bKash QR code placed at the cattle markets.
To facilitate cattle sellers and leaseholders with bKash account, arrangements of opening ‘Personal Retail Account’ (PRA) are available at the cattle markets. Daily Cash Out limit of these PRAs will not be applicable for a certain period of time.
As part of building a Smart Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank and DNCC are conducting “Smart Bangladesh, Smart Haat” since last year to reduce cash dependency in cattle markets, give security of money to the buyers and sellers and prevent fraudulent activities.
Besides going to the haat in person, many customers tend to buy sacrificial animals from online cattle marketplaces. They are enjoying the convenience of bKash payment there as well.
