Chevron Bangladesh and Green Savers, an environmental organization, jointly inaugurated a tree plantation program in the vicinity of Chevron Bangladesh’s Bibiyana Gas Plant in Habiganj as part of the comprehensive tree plantation initiative across the country to protect biodiversity.
Chevron Bangladesh is launching a five-year plantation program to transform the landscape around its gas plant. This initiative will see the planting of over 4,000 high- quality seedlings, including a variety of flowers, fruit trees, wood trees, and medicinal plants. Prioritizing indigenous species, the program aims to enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and provide food and shelter for local wildlife. Additionally, the Debdaru trees, known for their sound-absorbing qualities, will help reduce noise pollution, creating a more peaceful environment.
This project is not just about beautification; it’s a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Green Savers will oversee the plantation and maintenance, ensuring the health and growth of the trees. Join us in this green revolution and witness the transformation of our surroundings into a vibrant, sustainable ecosystem where nature and industry thrive in harmony. Speaking about the initiative, Chief Guest Mr. Fardoush Anwar, director of the Sylhet divisional office of the Department of Environment, said, “This initiative from corporate responsibility to environmental protection deserves praise.
