Chairman of Pacific Jeans Group, Md Nasir Uddin, was laid to rest on Wednesday in Chittagong, said a press release.
The burial of the visionary entrepreneur took place at the family graveyard at Salimpur village under Sitakunda upazila after the third namaz-e-janaza at his village.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Chattogram EPZ on Wednesday morning (March 2) and second namaz-e-janaza was held at Jamiautul Falah Jame Mosque in the port city After Johr prayers.
The body of Nasir Uddin was brought back Wednesday morning from Bangkok where he passed away on February 28.
People from all walks of life, including honorable Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and also a past president of BGMEA Md. Atiqul Islam, former BGMEA Presidents Kutubuddin Ahmed, Md. Siddiqur Rahman and S.M. Fazlul Hoque, Office Bearers of BGMEA and Board of Directors, entrepreneurs and politicians took part in the namaz-e-janaza of Nasir Uddin and prayed for the departed soul.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan participated in the name-e-janaza.
He said, “Nasir Uddin was one of the pioneers of in Bangladesh’s apparel industry, a visionary entrepreneur and a loved and respected personality.”
“The name of Nasir Uddin has been etched in history as a pioneer in the denim sector. He has gone from our sight but his legacy will live long. He will be remembered with love and respect in the hearts of those inspired and illuminated by him and his works,” he said.
“The apparel industry will remain ever grateful to him for his unparalleled contribution.” Faruque Hassan added.
The Pacific Jeans Group, founded by Md Nasir Uddin, is one of the largest denim manufacturers in the world.
