Grameenphone has launched ‘GP Academy,’aiming to train Bangladesh’s vast and promising young population to help them prepare for the fourth industrial revolution.
The programmes and courses of the GP Academy are designed to strengthen their career readiness and accelerate entrepreneurship.
It will develop multiple core skills required for the fourth industrial revolution, according to a press release.
The Career Launchpad Programme of the GP Academy is specially designed to bridge the gaps between academic knowledge and the professional world, guiding students through practical and industry-oriented skills.
TheGP Academy was launched at a programmeon May 18 at the GP House.
Dulal Krishna Saha, executive chairman (secretary),National Skills Development Authority, was the chief guestwhile CecilieHeuch, EVP and chief people and sustainability officer, Telenor Group, attended the event as aspecial guest.
A panel discussion was held with the participation of Syed Tanvir Husain, GP CHRO; DrMdAshrafulHoque, dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IUT; Fakhruddin Ahmed, country GM (Bangladesh), Cisco Systems; ManishaDogra, VP, Head of Sustainability Asia, Telenor Group; and SadmeenaMahreen, GP Academy Alumni.
Dulal Krishna Sahasaid he was delighted to see the participation ofGrameenphone to support the very critical area of building skills through their technology and innovation.
“Such an initiative from the private sector will be impactful to upskill the youth and prepare them for real work,” he added.
Cecilie Heuch mentioning the potential of such an academy saidbuilding future skills was crucial for building a sustainable tomorrow.
“I believe and hope our collective efforts with credible global partners will play a pivotal role in developing digital skills for the youth of Bangladesh, accelerating digitalization, and creating a competitive workforce globally,” she said.

Grameenphone has been upskilling university students over the last two years through the ‘GP Explorers’programme, successfully preparing students for the workplace.
Now, with GP Academy, it aims to spread this impact nationwide.
