Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi) has organized a free thalassemia carrier screening and awareness camp sponsored by First Security Islami Bank Ltd. (FSIBL) at Kurmitola General Hospital, après release said Thursday. The campaign was on the occasion of the birthday celebration of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman. Thalassemia is a deadly disease that is transmitted through parents. Thalassemia can be prevented if one thalassemia carrier does not marry another thalassemia carrier. Dr. Firdausi Qadri, Laureate of Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021 and Lead, Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives, Syed Waseque Md. Ali, MD, FSIBL, Brig. Gen. Md. FazlulKabir, Mphil, MMed, MPH, Dr. Sharmin Jahan, COO, ideSHi were present at the program.
