Indo-Rama senior VP meets BGMEA president

Vaneet Goel, Senior Vice President of PT. Indo-Rama Synthetics, held discussions with Faruque Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), in Dhaka on February 14, a press release said Thursday.

The meeting, attended by Ambassador of Indonesia to Bangladesh H. E. Heru Hartanto Subolo, Puneet Dhall of PT. Indorama Polychem Indonesia, Managing Director of DBL Group Mohammed Jabbar, and Deputy Managing Director of Mahmud Group Rafee Mahmood, focused on exploring investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s non-cotton textiles sector.

The discussions aimed to establish a potential partnership that would benefit both Bangladesh and Indonesia through enhanced trade and investment, particularly in the textile sector.

They talked about investment opportunities in high-value and non-cotton textiles, with a particular emphasis on value addition in the ready-made garment sector of Bangladesh.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan underscored Bangladesh’s growing shift towards high-value garments, including those made using non-cotton fabrics such as nylon, polyester yarns, and spandex fabrics.

Noting the significant increase in demand for spandex in Bangladesh’s garment industry, he urged Indo-Rama Synthetics to consider investing in the non-textile sector, specifically in spandex production.

President Faruque Hassan called on Indo-Rama Synthetics to extend technical cooperation to Bangladeshi companies, enhancing their capacity to manufacture garments using nylon, polyester yarns, and spandex fabrics.

Indo-Rama Synthetics, based in Indonesia, is a leading producer of spun and blended yarns, polyester filament yarns, polyester staple fiber, textile chips, and polyester fabric.
