ITFC workshop focuses Islamic Finance Products

International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC)has organized a two-day workshop onthe trends and developments in Islamic finance products and services, particularly those related to trade finance.

Held in Gazipuron Saturday (December 11) the workshop aimed at supportingBangladesh’s initiative to enhance the knowledge and understanding of itsfinancial institutions on Islamic Finance products and services. ThePrrogrammebrought together diverse perspectives to Islamic financing in the Bangladesh and throughout the World.

Various issues including the latesttrends in the Islamic financing industry, structuring, product comparison, and shariah-based alternative solutions came up for discussion at the programme.

The workshop was an opportunity for the participating institutions to explore theviability and the impact of Islamic finance on the global banking system and the role of Islamic banks in the post-covid recovery of the economies of the countries they operate in.

Besides the programme also highlighted the potential growth of Islamic Finance within the financial sector in Bangladesh, particularly with the recent policy incentive taken up by the Bangladesh government to help develop Islamic finance.

Speaking on the occasion, Eng. Hani Salem Sonbol, ITFC CEO, said, “Despite multiple challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, ITFC is pledgebound to implement its trade development initiatives for the benefit of its member countries,, he added.

 “ITFC realized the potential growth of Islamic Finance within the financial sector in Bangladesh, especially with the recent policy incentive by the Bangladesh government to develop Islamic finance.””Eng. Sonbolfurther said.
